Gutter Replacement Cost Guide and Material Comparison
K-style vs. half-round, aluminum vs. copper, and seamless vs. sectional pricing.
Gutter replacement runs $1,500-$3,200 for typical aluminum on a 2,000 sq ft single-story home. Premium materials (copper, steel) and complex layouts (multiple stories, many corners) can push that 2-4x higher.
Material options
Aluminum: $6-$13/lf installed. Default choice — won't rust, lightweight, comes in dozens of colors.
Steel: $9-$18/lf. Stronger than aluminum, better for snow load regions.
Copper: $25-$50/lf. Premium look, develops patina over 5-15 years, lasts 60+ years.
Vinyl: $4-$8/lf. Cheap, fades, brittle in cold weather. Reserved for low-budget rentals.
Seamless vs. sectional
Seamless gutters (formed on-site from coil stock) leak far less than sectional gutters with joints every 10 feet. Premium of about 30-50% on labor — worth it on any quality install.
Add leaf guards ($4-$10/lf additional) only if you have heavy tree cover. Quality systems (LeafFilter, Gutter Helmet) work; cheap screens often don't.
